About

The Re:Pro Health Podcast aims to raise awareness about sexual and reproductive health topics. The goal is to provide education about these topics so individuals can become better advocates for their own health.

Each episode features an interview with a health care professional or individual with lived experience who is well-acquainted in that topic. Episodes strive to answer the basic "5 W + how" questions (who, what, when, where, why, how) about that topic. More information can be found by clicking on the links posted. **Please note that this content is not intended to replace medical advice**

Let's keep the conversation going about pro-health topics regarding sexual and reproductive health!

Nagma Grewal (she/her) - Project Manager (University of Alberta, MD Candidate 2024)

"Hi everyone! I'm excited to work on this wonderful podcast! When I was younger, I definitely didn't know much about women's health or where to find answers to my many questions. I now recognize the privilege that comes with having a science background and being able to navigate scientific literature and medical jargon. However, this is not the reality for many. In the current climate where misinformation is readily available, it is even more important to have resources such as this podcast - where information from evidence and experts is provided in an accessible manner to everyone."

Nagma completed her BSc and Master of Public Health at Queen's before moving out west to join the MD Class of 2024. In her free time, she loves exploring quaint cafes, baking, and doing yoga.

Prachi Shah (she/her) - Social Media & Outreach Manager (University of Alberta, MD Candidate 2023)

"Hi everyone! I am delighted to be working on this incredible podcast! As a teen and then a young woman, I've had so many questions about reproductive health and haven't always known where to find information or who to ask. I'm excited to work on this podcast to answer questions about reproductive health and wellness and inspire others to be empowered and informed about their bodies and wellbeing!"

Prachi finished her Bachelor of Science Specialization in Physiology and Research in Science at the University of Alberta before entering the MD Class of 2023. In her free time she loves painting, reading, traveling, and finding new restaurants to try out.

Vienna Buchholz (she/her) - Host (University of Alberta, MD Candidate 2024)

"Hey, everyone! When I first heard of the Re:Pro Health Podcast as a first year medical student, I was immediately intrigued. For much of my undergraduate degree, I was a student researcher in a lab focusing on the vaginal microbiome and I have a strong interest in all things reproductive and sexual health. I am delighted to be this podcast's host this year as we tackle topics from all realms of reproductive and sexual health while learning from our amazing guests. I hope that this podcast inspires listeners to think, reflect, ask questions, and learn more about the topics we discuss. Let's normalize conversations around reproductive and sexual health today!"

Vienna completed a Bachelor of Health Sciences (Honours Biomedical Sciences) at the University of Calgary before joining the MD Class of 2024. In her free time she enjoys volunteering, biking, cooking, baking sourdough bread, and searching for the best local cafés and restaurants.

Jessica Wang (she/her) - Script writer/Infographic creator (University of Alberta, MD Candidate 2024)

"Hello! Pretty stoked to be working on this podcast with my wonderful teammates! I’ve always loved learning, but sometimes, sitting in class or asking parents aren’t the most fun ways of gaining knowledge – especially for topics that can be a bit discomfiting. My goal is to help create a resource that can empower you with knowledge, broaden your perspectives and be a bright spot in your commute / leisure time / whenever you listen to podcasts!"

Jessica completed a BSc in cell biology at the University of Alberta before starting medical school there. She loves baking bread, reading mystery novels and running outdoors.

Hillary Wilson (she/her) - Script writer/Infographic creator (University of Alberta, MD Candidate 2023)

"Hi everyone! I’m looking forward to working on this podcast! In my personal experience, women’s health is not something everyone is comfortable discussing. Sometimes I didn’t even know the questions I should have been asking. I’m excited to be contributing to a podcast as an approachable, nonjudgemental platform to provide accurate information and empower our listeners!"

Hillary graduated with a BSc in Nutrition from the University of Alberta and worked briefly as a Registered Dietitian before joining the MD Class of 2023. In her free time, you can find her at the gym, running, cooking, and spending time with friends and family.

Ania Widomska (she/her) - Audio Engineer (University of Alberta, MD Candiadate 2024)

“Hello! I am very excited to be taking on the audio-related tasks for this podcast. As a huge podcast-listener, I’ve always had a secret interest in podcast production and so I jumped at the opportunity to join this team and learn about all the behind the scenes work of recording and editing a podcast. On top of that I am a big believer in empowering people to understand their own bodies and to start conversations about underrepresented or taboo topics.”

Ania studied biomedical sciences at the University of Calgary before joining U of A’s MD class of 2024. She is an avid tea-drinker and a bookworm. Outside of class she can probably be found painting, climbing, or exploring mountaintops.
